Introduction to iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation

Location: 600 Queen St. , C-2, Honolulu, Hawaii, HIBased on the ancient teachings of meditation, iRest is an evidence-based transformative practice that leads to psychological, physical, and spiritual healing and well-being.Both integrative and restorative in nature, iRest increases coping skills and helps navigate recovery from traumas of the mind as well as traumas in the body. The practice of iRest provides you with tools to help you relax deeply, release stress, increase resiliency, improve your interpersonal relationships, and provide you with greater mastery and control in your life. People who practice iRest report:• Reduced depression, fear and anxiety • Greater ability to relax and enjoy life• Reduced insomnia and levels of stress • Improved interpersonal relations• Reduced chronic and acute pain •Increased inner peace and well-beingIn this two-hour workshop you will:•learn the origins of iRest Yoga Nidra•understand the benefits of the practice and learn how the practice is being used across the country to heal PTSD, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, sleep issues, and more.•review of the 10 stages of an iRest meditation practice•participate in an iRest meditationParticipants are asked to bring their own yoga mat and any props they use for meditation such as bolsters, blankets, and pillows. The practice of iRest is typically done laying on a yoga mat but can also be done seated. The iRest meditation we will do is 35 minutes long. If you do not have “meditation props” please bring a blanket and pillow for your practice. Participants are also encouraged to bring pen and paper.Workshop Leader: Alli HouseworthAlli Houseworth is a military spouse, E-RYT yoga instructor, and Level One iRest teacher. Alli received her 200-hour power yoga teacher training from CorePower Yoga and completed her Hot Yoga training with Evolation Yoga. She is a Level 1 and 2 Warriors at Ease instructor specifically trained on how to offer trauma-sensitive yoga and meditation to members of the military. Alli moved to Oahu in 2017 with her husband (who is active duty Coast Guard), their dog Toby, and cat, Koop. She teaches yoga around the island at CorePower, Hot Yoga Kapolei, Bella Kai Yoga, and on Hickam Air Force Base. Alli also teaches iRest to Army soldiers in the Warriors Transition Battalion at Schofield Barracks. Tickets are $30* *A 50% discount is available for active duty military members and their families as well as HPD and HFD with code 'MilResponder.' Limit to per purchase.
